Cheap Kilimanjaro climbs with kilirock africa adventures Our research indicates that our prices are the cheapest current and valid prices anywhere on the Internet, for fully featured, supported, guided climbs. We are aware of at least once operator whose website features cheaper prices, but a) these prices are no longer valid and have not been updated for nearly two years, and b) they are for scheduled group climbs where you may be required to climb with a large group of strangers. If unsure, note that where a single rate is given, this almost certainly indicates participation in a larger climb group, as operational costs decrease as the group size increases.
The following are our prices for climbs commencing in 2014. Since we believe that these prices are already the very lowest available on Kilimanjaro (of those that will actually be honoured as opposed to merely being advertised), please note that we are unable to negotiate discounts under any circumstances on our already cheap Kilimanjaro climbs.
The following prices are inclusive of vehicle transfers from your hotel in Arusha, to Kilimanjaro, and back to Arusha again after your climb.
Rates for Private Climbs,There are three main reasons why we are able to offer such cheap Kilimanjaro climbs:
1. While our guides and cooks are paid per job – as with all other companies running Kilimanjaro climbs – our kilirock porter team is unique in that we receive monthly salaries, as opposed to being paid a daily rate while on the mountain. Where climb volumes increase, so does the cost efficiency of the operation. And as cost efficiency increases and prices are kept low, so our climb volumes increase. Clients should be assured that porters who receive plenty of work are happy people and enjoy their jobs. Those who suffer with just one climb per month must frequently switch companies and often develop a mercenary attitude towards their work.
2. Clients should understand – and we trust that our prices clearly reflect this – that we are a budget operation, competing with the services offered by companies such as Climb Kili, Climbing Kilimanjaro, Keys Hotel, Mauly Tours, Shah Tours, Zara, and its many agents such as Ultimate Kilimanjaro, etc, etc. As such we would like to make clear that we do not pretend to offer services on a par with up-market operations such as African Environments, Alpine Ascents International, Kiliwarriors, Mountain Madness, Nature Discovery, SENE, Summits Africa, Team Kilimanjaro, Tusker Trail, etc, etc. With respect to this classification, clients should understand that budget operations do not have funding available to replace their equipment as frequently as up-market companies; and that we have more modest menus and ingredients; and that we are required to strip out a number of the add-ons that some clients may covet when camping near to one of the high-level operations mentioned above.
3. Our operating costs are heavily subsidised by a large Arusha-based operator that assists us with free use of their old stock of equipment; and provides free lodging for our staff. This is achieved through a programme of cooperation between the Maasai people’s foundation ‘ Nanapai’ and a small handful of our benefactors.
The
following are standard prices chargeable to all climbers who are not
citizens of Tanzania, Kenya or Uganda, and who do not have a valid
residency permit for one of these three countries. The majority of our
climbers pay these rates. The difference in these rates is determined by
the concession on park fees that is offered by Kilimanjaro National
Park on production of an East African passport (for citizens), or a
residency permit (for residents) when registering your climb at the park gate
